Work with eMMC replacement or recovery boot for Samsung devices is based on the general principles of working with eMMC, taking into account the brand of the device processor, and has its own characteristics.

To successfully replace an eMMC or repair a boot for Samsung devices, you need to know the basics of working with eMMC, taking into account the specifics of working with the device processor brand, and 3 features should be taken into account:

  1. Preventing the release of the Boot version in new Samsung devices.
  2. Repair IMEI when replacing eMMC with or without backup of an EFS partition from a specific device.
  3. The format of the original Samsung firmware is almost unchanged for devices on different processors.

Example of determining the boot version from the firmware name: BL_A720FXXU 3CRE2_CL13561022_QB18043607_REV00_user_low_ship.tar .md5

Recovering boot files on Samsung brand devices

Option 1 (using the original Samsung firmware or backup made in "Read by Vendor "):

  1. Connect to the device in ISP mode or drop eMMC and work with it through a socket.
  2. Using the software EasyJTAG Plus Software, using the tab "Write by vendor", select the Samsung brand, select the mode from the original firmware (from pit)
  3. Download the service firmware for your device, taking into account the boot version (not lower than it was in device).
  4. Select the pit file (or CSC file)
  5. Add the file BL _ *. *
  6. Make "Write to eMMC"

Option 2 (using backup dumps in the bin format for the device):

  1. Connect to the device in ISP mode or drop eMMC and work with it through a socket.
  2. Using the EasyJTAG Plus Software software, using the "Read by vendor" tab, select the Samsung brand
  3. Read the partition table from the eMMC (Read Partition table)
  4. Select the EFS partition and other important sections for IMEI backup taking into account the processor brand ( fsg, modemst1, modemst2, m9kefs1, m9kefs2, nvram, nvdata, pretect_f, pretect_s, protectst1, protectst2, etc.)
  5. Save these sections (Read from eMMC)
  6. Go to the eMMC General tab, select "Write All ROM's , select files for recording, write firmware dumps (you should be sure that the dump files have a Boot version not lower than they were in the device )
  7. Go to the "Write by vendor" tab, select the Samsung brand, select the mode from the original firmware (from pit)
  8. Select the pit file from backup, made in paragraph 4,
  9. Write back backup, make an entry in eMMC ("Write to eMMC").

Replacing eMMC

Option 1 (when the old eMMC is not fully working and it is impossible to use backup from it to save IMEI) :

  1. Connect to an eMMC suitable for this device (for example, via a socket).
  5. Add the firmware files to the window (if the recording time allows, then all files, otherwise just the BL _ *. * File) is enough.
  6. If you have EFS backup from the same model:
  • in TAR format: add to the firmware files window
  • in BIN / IMG format: double-click add to the partition table in the EFS line
  1. Add Extcsd backup from this model to the Boot config .
  2. Make "Write to eMMC"
  3. If p.8 was omitted, on the eMMC General tab, write the Boot config corresponding to the processor of the device.

Option 2 (when with the old eMMC you can save partitions for saving IMEI):

  1. Connect to the device in ISP mode or drop eMMC and work with it through a socket.
  2. Using the EasyJTAG Plus Software software, select the Samsung brand using the "Read by vendor" tab.
  3. Read the partition table from the eMMC (Read Partition table)
  4. Select the EFS partition, and other important sections for IMEI backup, taking into account the processor brand (modemst1, modemst2, m9kefs1, m9kefs2, nvram, nvdata, pretect_f, pretect_s, pretectst1, pretectst2, etc.)
  5. Save these sections (Read from eMMC)
  6. Execute "Option 1" by inserting backup section files with

option EFS in the table option 3 (recording firmware from backup dump):

Using the knowledge described above:
  1. If it is possible to save sections with IMEI, proceed as in "Option 2 "
  2. Write backups of dumps in BIN format on the first tab" eMMC General "
  3. Restore backups of partitions with IMEI, proceed as in" Option 2 "
