UFi dat 0 not working

i recently started using ufi and every phone i connect in insertation test dat 0 always not connected(usb cable &battery not connected) ,anthing im doing wrong? im a beginer ill apreciate any help even with training and i would also like to know how to avoid over voltage and when should i connect usb cable and battery
