Apple has today released the second iOS 17.2 and iPadOS 17.2 betas to developers, allowing them the chance to install them and test their apps before the updates are released to the public.

That public release is expected to happen before Christmas, with this beta arriving two weeks after the initial release.
Those who are registered developers can now download the updates via the Settings app and the Software Update section. They do need to be signed into their developer Apple ID and have the Beta Updates option enabled, however.
There are a couple of new additions in the iOS 17.2 update but the biggest is the Journal app that was shown off during the WWDC event on June 5.

The app will allow people to write about their experiences and what they got up to during the day, with the app recommending entries based on the locations visited, photos taken, and more.

Other improvements include a new Apple Music feature that adds a Favorites playlist while playlist sharing is also supported. Stickers can now be used to reply to iMessages by long-pressing on a chat within the Messages app.

The iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button can be used to begin translations, while the Messages app also supports iMessage Contact Key Verification to ensure that nobody is intercepting messages.
