If you are looking to migrate Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, you probably need the proper techniques so that you can efficiently move all your data, including email, contacts, calendar, and Drive data.
I'm looking to migrate from G Suite to Office 365, and I did some research to find out the best way to migrate. I tried out many tools and many manual methods. I ended up finding the Shoviv G Suite to Office 365 Migration Tool. It migrates Google Workspace mailboxes to Microsoft 365 in a single process. The tool comes with several valuable features that make the migration reliable and efficient. It allows users to add and migrate multiple mailboxes at once without any size limitation. Users can also schedule the migration by creating jobs based on their requirements. Date and folder filters are available to migrate only the required data. The tool supports migrating G Suite mailboxes to an on-premises Exchange Server as well. Along with mailbox migration, it also helps migrate Google Drive data to OneDrive. An incremental export feature is included, which allows the migration process to resume if it gets interrupted. A free trial version is available that lets users migrate the first 50 items per folder.

If you need to migrate Google Workspace to a Microsoft 365 mailbox in 2026 I would suggest trying the Softaken IMAP to IMAP Migration Tool. It is a simple and reliable solution for transferring emails between IMAP-supported accounts without data loss. The software helps move complete mailbox data including inbox, sent items, drafts, attachments and folder structure with full accuracy. It supports secure migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 without requiring technical expertise. The interface is user-friendly so even beginners can use it easily. It also maintains email formatting and metadata during the process. For a smooth and hassle-free migration this tool is a perfect choice.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Trying a few methods before settling on one is the right approach, because Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 looks simple until you hit calendars, contacts, groups and Drive files.

Where people usually struggle: mail moves fine, but the extras (calendars, contacts, shared mailboxes, aliases, Google Groups and sharing permissions) are where things get messy, especially when users are still working during the move.

The free/manual route, roughly:

1. Add and verify your domain in the Microsoft 365 admin center, then create users and assign licences.
2. Use Microsoft's built-in Google Workspace (Gmail) migration in the Exchange admin center. It needs some Google Cloud setup (project, service account, API access), so follow Microsoft's current docs. For a few mailboxes, IMAP migration is simpler but moves mail only.
3. If you used IMAP, export calendars (.ics) and contacts (.csv) separately and import them by hand.
4. Move Drive files by download and re-upload to OneDrive, or use a sync client.
5. Lower your DNS TTL a day or two ahead, then switch the MX records once mailboxes are migrated.
6. Keep Google Workspace active for a few weeks as a safety net.

Common mistakes with the manual way:

- Switching MX records before mailboxes have finished copying, so new mail lands in the wrong place.
- Using IMAP and forgetting it doesn't carry calendars or contacts.
- Losing Drive sharing permissions and folder structure when re-uploading by hand.
- Running into throttling or app password issues halfway through a large mailbox.
- Cancelling Google too early, before checking everything arrived.
- Skipping a 1-2 mailbox pilot, so problems only show up after cutover.

If you'd rather skip the manual effort, the Kernel Google Workspace to Office 365 Migration Tool can move Gmail, calendars, contacts and Google Groups to Microsoft 365 with folder structure intact, and the free trial lets you test a small batch first.

Hope that helps. Happy to answer questions if you hit anything specific.
