For both new and older Apple Watches the most practical all-rounder is a complete multi-generation repair kit that includes precision tri-point and pentalobe drivers, thin plastic pry tools, a suction cup or screen-lifting tool, a heat pad or adjustable heat gun for the adhesive, fine tweezers and a magnetic mat. iFixit’s Apple Watch kit or the equivalent comprehensive kits from Mobile Sentrix and Injured Gadgets cover Series 1 through Ultra and are the most reliable option if you want something that actually fits the different screw sizes and screen adhesives across generations. If you only need software restoration such as a factory reset or firmware restore, then a simple USB-C cable plus a computer with the latest Finder, iTunes or 3uTools is enough and no special hardware is required. For physical work stick with a proper multi-model kit rather than cheap single-generation tools because the screw and adhesive differences between old and new Watches will frustrate you otherwise.
