I've been trying to find a way to unlock the bootloader of an Mi 9T (Davinci). I bought it faulty off eBay. Original fault was "System destroyed" error on boot. I fixed that by EDL flashing stock ROM back on. This fixed and I was back into an OS. However, after getting into MIUI, I found it was locked to the original owner's account. I tried contacting the seller to see if they had the account info. They didn't.
I found a bypass tool on github that gets past the lock and lets me in the OS, but unfortunately, I'm not able to unlock the bootloader because "Mi Unlock Status" does not let me bind my own account. It just returns an 20091 internal error.
I take it all bypasses are the same, right? They let you in MIUI, but you can't actually unlock the bootloader. I've been searching and searching with no resolution. I'm guessing it is impossible since BL unlocking is handled by the Xiaomi servers.
